Therapy Resources: Podcasts
I wanted to include a list of resources of some of the best works available to provide clients with extra support and inspiration in the form of podcasts, books, and more. Here are some favourites when it comes to podcasts:
*Please note that most of the links are to apple podcasts for ease of listening - you may be using a different podcast player. No affiliate links are used.
Between Us: Hosted by psychodynamic therapist John Totten - both other therapists and people who have been in therapy are interviewed about their experiences. The therapists featured are often psychodynamic (some of them quite well-known in the field) and there are beautiful and important conversations - highly recommended.
The Radical Therapist: Hosted by psychologist Chris Hoff, this podcast features interviews with practitioners working in narrative therapy, topics like stigma and mental health, and collaborative practices.
Therapy Chat: Therapy Chat is hosted by trauma therapist Laura Reagan and consists of interviews with other practitioners who speak about their work and share information on attachment, somatic therapies, trauma work, and more.
Three Associating: For those interested in relational psychoanalytic practice, Three Associating offers a look behind the curtain with two relational therapists seeking supervision around specific client dynamics.
Where Should We Begin? Esther Perel is a well-known couples therapist who was one of the first to create a podcast dedicated to therapy - Where Should We Begin features one-time therapy sessions with couples seeking counselling. Recommended for learning about dynamics in relationships - Perel has a deep understanding of attachment and is quite active in her approach.
Why Theory: The only podcast in this list not hosted by therapists - Todd McGowan and Ryan Engley are both English/philosophy professors who often link psychoanalytic thinking and practices to examine various cultural phenomena. Highly recommended, though definitely more cerebral (suggested to start from the beginning).
